To introduce one of HDI's newest training courses, HDI is hosting a four-week tour. Malcolm Fry, instructor of the new Power of Metrics for Optimal ITSM Performance course, will present a daylong workshop in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. Both the upcoming workshops and the HDI training course will take an in-depth look at the ITIL 2011 Edition metrics for incident, problem, change, and service desk management. Analyst of the Year is Tim Czapiewski of Molina Healthcare. Tim works in Molina's Phone Support group out of Bothell, WA, but supports many users in Southern California - and since there is no HDI local chapter in WA, we were able to bring him in under Orange County. Tim was unfortunately not able to be in attendance tonight.

Desktop Tech of the Year is Georgiana Smith, also of Molina Healthcare. Georgiana works at Molina's headquarters in downtown Long Beach, part of a Desktop team supporting over 800 employees.

Both Tim and Georgiana will move on to the Regional level of competition, where they will go up against winners from the other 9 local chapters in the Western Region. The regional winners will be flown to Orlando to compete for national honors next April.

Here’s your chance to earn them some recognition!

HDI Orange County is pleased to announce the new HDI Desktop Support Technician of the Year Award. This award will recognize technicians that exemplify the best of the best in the industry!

This award is intended for the support professional who responds to incidents escalated by the service desk that are related to customer equipment. They are the “face of support” as they generally provide face-to-face dealings with clients and customers. The ideal technician will be well rounded in technical aptitude, team orientation, leadership, customer service, people skills, and positive attitude. They should recognize and demonstrate the importance of the sharing of knowledge with their co-workers to develop problem solving techniques that can be utilized by all team members.

Nominations may be made by managers, peers, customers or support personnel.

Guidelines and criteria for the Desktop Technician of the Year Award

HDI Orange County is also looking for judges to help us evaluate candidates. Your input will help us determine who will be our local winner. The runners-up, winner and judges will be recognized at our local event on December 8.

If the winner also wins the regional competition, they will go to Orlando next April  to compete nationally at the HDI 2012 Annual Conference & Expo.

Nominations may be made by analysts, managers, peers, customers or support personnel.
